With that being said, PHX and CHI each possess about 5 months of nice temps, 5 months of bad temps and 2 months of hellish temps.

I didn't want to contribute too much to going off topic because I realize weather is not the topic. I just read so many comments that sounded questionable, so I decided to do some digging to find out the real scoop and then decided to share it. We came pretty close to 6 months didn't we? That turned out not to be
much of an exaggeration after all. That really surprised me because it doesn't seem like it. I always tell people we have about 2 months of hellish weather (during Monsoon) but the rest of the year (10 months) is beautiful! This is just my opinion. I find the high humidity
with the heat uncomfortable. But the only time we have the high humidity is during Monsoon. I was more uncomfortable in Washington state when I visited last Summer and the temperature was around 80 and the humidity was very high as well (as it usually is high in Washington), it actually felt hotter to me than 110 in Phoenix with low humidity. The humidity makes it stickier and moist.
I've only been in Chicago briefly and I'm sure if I spent any amount of time there I could come up with a lot to like (or maybe even love) about it. I may not be able to enjoy the weather but I have no doubt there would be plenty other things to like. I've heard wonderful things about Chicago! I always do find things to really enjoy about every place I have gone within the states, and in Canada as well. For example, I froze my tushy off in Alaska when I took a cruise there this year, but I saw the most breathtakenly beautiful sights I have ever seen in my life there. I couldn't get enough of it, I can't wait to go back and see more areas. I probably wouldn't want to live there because I prefer more sunshine and less rain, but I sure did
love seeing it.
I have only been in Arizona for almost 5 years. My first summer here we were breaking high temperature records and we are doing it again this year (breaking the ones from then). I moved from Washington State so it was a very large change in the weather department. It took me about 6 months to acclimate to the weather. My point is, I couldn't expect you to enjoy a short stay in our state when we are having high or very high temperatures, when it took me 6 months to really start enjoying and appreciating it. Now I feel like I am in heaven, weather wise. When it actually does rain I can really enjoy it, because it is so infrequent. I am in the West Valley, so I don't get the dust storms like they do in the East Valley and I also have never had snow here.
I hope you give us another try some time. Maybe around April or May would be more to your liking, as long as you like sunshine but lower heat. If you don't, I understand, Phoenix is not everybodies cup of tea.
There I go contributing too much. Sigh. Sorry everybody.
