Default new job at tatum/shea...what route

Ok i just got a new job at the Tatum and Shea area-8-5...so rush hour time. I currently live in North Tucson and will commute everyday (yeah yeah you dont have to tell me-I come from New England so multiple hour commutes in the snow are the norm for me) until I buy a house up in Pheonix in 2 months.
I will be coming up route 10 from Tucson and then should I hit the 51 or the 101 and get off the nearest exit to that area or once I get into phoenix hit the surface streets at some point?
Any suggestions for driving routes are well appreciated!

Wow, that is one crazy commute!

I'd hit the 51 and get off at Shea and then you're there! The 51 northbound isn't bad, but the 101 is.

Yeah its bad by Arizonian standards but not by new englander standards!
It will only be for 2-3 months til I buy a house up there so....you gotta do what you gotta do!

Thanks for the info about 51. I was wondering since I would have to take I-10 through the city center/airport area to get to the 51 if that would be worse than getting on 202 and going up 101 towards tatum/shea?
I would think driving I10 past the airport/downtown area would be the worst of any place come rush hour?

Taking the 202 to the 101 is going out of your way to get to Tatum and Shea. The 51 is only about 3 miles from Tatum/Shea, whereas I believe it's about 6 miles from the 101.

I get irritated with anything over 30 minutes!

ok thanks for the route advice!

haha....you would do poorly in Massachusetts or Washington state if 30 minutes gets you going!!
I am happy with just about any distance so long as i am not driving a dark road with 10 inches of snow and sleet falling around me!
