What do I like about Phx? Hmm, well the fact that I just left Az to come home to Calif doesnt make the question easier to answer but after living there in Az for so long (12 years?), my answer would have to be that I pretty much knew my way around parts of Phx and of the surrounding towns.

Desert hiking in the Phoenix Mountain Preserves (only after November and before April).

Nice, clean freeways with cool designs (particularly the 101 near Scottsdale).

Great Mexican food.

Roads that are in good condition - Much better than the crap I drive on now
Beautiful scenery
Skyharbor
South Mountain and the neighborhoods around it
Women (great place to be single) - Some of the most beautiful you'll see
Jobs in my field pay pretty well
People are nice and open to getting to know you

There's more that I could say but you get the drift.

I love to see snow on the nearby hills and mountains after a winter storm.

I love the smell of orange blossoms and sweet acacia in the spring.

I love the play of light here. It is remarkably bright. The contrasts and shadows in the trees and on the hillsides in spring and fall never fail to impress me.

I love the renewal of spirit that comes when the heat finally breaks in late October.

It's "home" to me. I know my way around the place.

If you want snow, it's less than 2 hours away.

Other good things about the Phoenix area:
-- No earthquakes
-- No hurricanes
-- No ice storms

Default What's not to like?

I live at Crystal Gardens in Avondale and I love looking at the water and birdwatching. Unlike many here, I love the weather. I can second other comments about feeling good here, the bright daylight and great housing prices. You hear people talk about how spiritually aware they feel in Sedona. I don't get that there, but I get it here. I like Sprouts, Cucina Tagliani, and the Marshalls and Bed, Bath and Beyond locations here are much better than in San Diego, where I recently left. Oh, can't forget the cost of living which also makes a lot more sense than San Diego's. Everybody always talks about our sunrises and sunsets. I've lived a lot of places and I say ours are the best.

I no longer in Arizona but what I do miss is:

Orange blossoms
Ocotillo
Good Mexican food
Camelback Mountain
Palo Verde trees
Wallace and Ladmo although I hear they are no longer on TV
Oak Creek
Payson
Mesas
