All that rain and no thread about it?

We got 1.18" near 67th Ave and Happy Valley Rd, very good for a 24 hour period (or any period for that matter). This year feels quite wet so far, I wonder what the official numbers are year-to-date and how they compare to the average for this time of year.

They are saying this is the last cold front we'll be seeing before spring so it's all uphill from here...will be mid 80s in just a few days.

Yes it was. I can keep our sprinklers off for a week now. The summer heat and higher utilities is right around the corner. I saw 90 degree highs for 2 days next week on the Weather Channel forecast. Yuch.

Summer heat is several months away.

This is one of the only cities where rain is sufficiently rare that having it is a nice change.

I wish you were right about the heat being several months away. Its more like several weeks away. Lol. Good ol phoenix. On a side note, Arizona is the second highest rate for skin cancers. I lived in the Philippines for a few years, and I was surprised by us being higher skin cancer risks than them.

Weeks away? Oh come on you know that's not true.

Though I guess it depends on each individual and what they consider "hot". For me, I don't consider it hot until June...and really about mid June is when it gets crappy. Up until then, yes, it's warm...even very warm, but the mornings are absolutely fantastic as are the evening, it' perfect patio weather until about mid June when it starts to not cool off at night and then it sucks until the end of September.

It is not really hot till the end of June. You can't look at one hour of the day, but should look at the overall temp curve. Most of June is wonderful with highs below 90 until 2-3pm and then over that for only an hour or two before it cools off rapidly with the sunset. If one cannot tolerate two hours of 95 degrees with 5% humidity, then they really should pack in it and go back to whatever ice cave they moved here from.

As for skin cancer, well AZ has one of the lower rates for melanoma and that is the only one worth get worked up over. Basal cell is about as serious as a pimple. Actually, AZ has one of the lowest rates for all forms of cancer. Many people live a healthier lifestyle here because of the benign weather.

If you're done discussing yesterday's storm, this can be merged with the "Phoenix climate/ weather thread, which it is turning into.

There was apparently enough of a storm yesterday to cause power outages and downed trees. [Article]
