A former mayor of Mesa; Willie Wong, is of Chinese heritage. He suffered a stroke otherwise Wong would have had a good shot at the governor's mansion. Brian Ishikawa is of an old Mesa family who have been here for about 100 years-----and, the man is a judge. |

i have never seen so many different peoples of color in positions of power as i have seen here. however, i would strongly have to state that the "racism" is a smokescreen. it's more classism than anything. if you want to avoid trouble, it is better to simply spend a bit more, which means you must earn a bit more. it's also not how you assimilate, it's your values and if you share the same ones with your neighbors or your community. what do you value most? for me, i'd rather have a trader joe's and sprouts than a fry's and payday loans. but you can find a neighborhoood for either choice. just be careful as the new neighborhoods are changing...

La Raza translates to "the Race". Its actual meaning is pride for the race of the hispanic.

Expand your mind. Not every word must use its literal translation. Reverse meaning the reverse of the past.
