Anyone know where I can buy some Prickly Pear FRuit that has already had all the potentially harmful things (needles/thorns) cut from it ?

I've been very curious about what one would taste like.

I've only seen it once it's already turned into a jam or jelly.
Sphinx Date Ranch has been around forever. Scottsdale Road just north of Thomas. You can visit or buy online.

I was going to say, I would look on a cactus, but then I saw you didn't want to do the work.

You can find them at Food City, they are thornless, my husband always buys them and they are delicious, they come in white and red flesh , you can tell the red ones from the reddish peel on the outside, and I personally prefer those to the white ones because they are sweeter

I was dumb and picked one off a cactus and didn't know they had hairlike thorns that got in all my fingers. I couldn't get them out and for weeks every time I would touch something I would get a shooting pain in my fingers from the thorns that were embedded. Learned my lesson for sure...

Try scotch tape. It's not 100% but it works fairly well. I think you need to apply the tape pretty soon after you get stuck tho.

When I did it we were out camping and had little access to anything that might have eased the situation. I tried scraping my fingers with a knife, rubbing them to try and work the thorns out and nothing worked. I suffered for weeks. Hopefully I'm smart enough now that I'll never touch one but if I do I'll try the tape.

Thanks.

The Safeway on Indian School & 48th Street had fresh Prickly Pear fruit along with some other "cactus" fruit last Saturday.
