Oh, you mean those "cool" people who weren't into comics in high school, but are now "into" comics because of the recent superhero movie craze? Ill pass.

Oh, come on, think of all the weird-looking strangers you could take cell-phone pictures of outside the convention center.

(Although, granted, the KC Chiefs Starter jacket in April is going to be hard to top.)

Most of the people that attend Comicon nowadays were never the nerds in school (just look at the pics above), they were the ones probably picking on the kids who were into comics and D&D. Since superheroes are the "in" thing nowadays, they simply hopped on the bandwagon.

I went last year or the year before, and I was impressed at how big it was. Sure lot's of "bandwagon" nerds as Big Cats points out, but so what? It was crowded but other wise a great opportunity for people watching and an overall good time.
