I have been here for about 5/6 years but I obviously can't pick up on EVERYTHING so this is something I need some help on.

Obviously people listen to a variety of music and dress differently in certain situations. I would assume it's safe to say that people who dress in cowboy/girl outfits like country music. However, you can love country music and not dress like that too. so my question is, how big is that stuff out here? I know we have some bars/clubs dedicated to line dancing and dressing up and there are various ranches around the Phoenix Valley. There are REAL cowboys in the state in more rural areas, well actually they are more like ranchers.

I have seen people in the hats and boots, etc (I actually own some ) And even with gun holsters, etc. I have heard some cars blaring country music. I know it probably doesn't compare to Texas or Tennessee, but when you think of Arizona, you gotta think of the Westerns, etc.

Was it bigger at one time and died down? Or is it still big? What am I missing here lol I know Phoenix/Tempe/Mesa has a big Rock band culture and venues but that's all I kinda know if we are talking about the area musically.

It was bigger at one time, with places like Graham Central Station and Denim and Diamonds and the venerable Mr Lucky's (which divided between country and rock and roll) all going strong then, and all gone now. There are smaller country venues still around, though.

Toby Keith's, "I love that bar and grill" in Mesa by Bass Pro Shop is still going strong with concerts, food and of course a rather large bar. If I remember correctly they're in process to build another in the valley soon.
Out my way (west valley) there's lots of horses and small ranchers/large farms. Not unusual to see people riding down Cotton or Citrus, and lots of people dressed western.

Forgot about Toby Keith's, which is relatively new on the scene. That said, it's the only large dedicated to country music venue now-- there used to be several. That's not to say that country music isn't popular here, it is...some really good country radio stations here.

Toby Keith's is just a TGI Friday's playing country music. It's awful. Check out Handlebar J in Scottsdale. The location seems odd but it's pretty darn country. It's a fun place for a change of scenery every now and then.

There's Moonshine that just opened on Mill Avenue in the old Margarita Rocks building, Whiskey Row that should be opening soon in Old Town in the new Triyar Beach Club complex, and Shotgun Betty's is right around the corner from there. I don't see a lot of people in cowboy "attire" but that may just be because of the location of some of these places.

There is a Denim and Diamonds in the east valley. It's on University just a block or two east of Power on the north side of the road on the corner of a strip mall. I just went by it last night.

Well thankfully there's different places for different tastes.
