Bought in SE Gilbert in ummm 2002 (?) It was 5 years in October.
Bought for 300k and similar houses (with less upgrades than ours) are selling for just about 500k. At the peak they were going for over 600k but the thought of that doesn't bother me as this is my home and I built it to live in, not to turn a profit. We are currently doing some remodeling and plan to stay about another 5 years then revisit the option of building a new one.

Bought in SW Valley (please, no DUH! comments) in Oct 06

Paid 281K
Appraised at $315K (yeah right)
Now estimated value is $281K, but trending south.

One sold up the street.... wait a minute....none sold. Two have been left vacant, two gave up and stayed.

Sounds like you may be in a Standard Pacific at Country Meadows. That was a true shoulda woulda coulda didn't for me. I still can't get over that one. If I would have bought there June 2003 for 280,000 before if was done 9 months later 599,000.

I was planning to live in it too but if I knew they would sell for 599,000 before I moved in I certainly would have not moved in. I would have took the $$$$ and ran.

Bought 2650 sq ft in S Chandler 2000 $215k
Listed for $465k in May, 2007 (bad advice from realtor).
She fought us on every price reduction we asked for.
Her contract expired Nov 1st (hooray!)

Now, under new management (realtor), finally listed now for $350k.
Might end up going for $300k.

It was/is a great house. Moved out of state.
No defects from the day it was built in 2000.

BTW, we took out a 5-year ARM in Oct, 2002 at 4.95%.
We used our savings to double up on the principle payment.
I'm glad we did that!

I coveted, (with my new money) I'm not an idiot?
