My cool deck had mud tracked all over it by sprinkler repair guys. The nozzle spray attachment on my hose didn't get all the footprint stains off, and a light scrub with a nylon broom with soapy water didn't work either. I live in Houston and the gumbo dirt we have is really dark.

Any ideas to try? My deck is a sandstone color and it shows all the spots. I would have thought that mud would have rinsed right off but it didn't. Is it true that you're not supposed to power wash cool deck?

My lone complaint with the area is the dust and I am in a constant battle to keep my back yard somewhat free of the dirt and dust. I clean my yard weekly with a blower (for the patio and furniture) and about once a month I squirt it off with a hose and wipe it with a towel. It is sufficient for our needs but you'll never get rid of all the dirt and dust. I just try and minimize it.

Here's a possible solution, JanJack . . .

Try spraying some Clorox Clean-Up (Cleaner with Bleach) on the footprint stains . . . a little sweeping and then rinse with a hose.

Depending on how "established" the stain have become, you may need to repeat or leave the Clorox Cleaner on for a few minutes before spraying.

Good Luck

I'd just like to know how to get all the bird poop off my patio! The birds use my dogs' water dish as a bird bath.

That doesn't look like dirt/dust to me.

By an owl and put it by the dish, keeps them away from my pool.

A hose with jet spray can get bird poop off pretty easy. I have one of these nozzles that gives it a lot more force. I miss my pressure washer though, time to buy a new one.

It is definitely not etched. It was painted within the last few months, and I can see when I inspect it that it's dust. I wish it had been painted the color of dust.
Having it painted the color of dust was going to be my recommendation!
