Sorry, that was Rundles, not Rumbles. Ugg

I thought it might have been, and was going to say so, but I wasn't familiar with the son's business, and I thought he'd maybe done a clever play on words and called his car shop Rumbles.

Ahh, Eastside Auto Parts. I bought some valve keepers for a flathead engine in my old 52 Dodge pick up truck there when I was a teenager.

I use to deliver parts to all those places back when I worked for Charlie C Jones Battery and Electric on west Mcdowell.

Yeah, I remember Charlie Jones.....used to go there for parts for big Briggs & Stratton engines.

What was the name of the auto parts place at McDowell and the freeway, right there on the frontage road?? They were open 24/7/365 which was unheard of in the 60's and 70's and still pretty rare today. They were a lifesaver to me because if they couldn't find it in the reference books, those guys would start opening boxes to compare to your part. In my case that happened a lot on weekends with my '68 CJ5 with the V6. The electrical system was put together with all kinds parts from every manufacturer in the U.S.

Speaking of Rundle's..............

Are you thinking of Automotive Sales?? I think that's the name. They are no longer open 24 hrs but are still there in the same location.

I can picture the place all lit up late at night (I remember going there to get a headlight) but for the life of me, I can't remember the name it had then.

Ed Smith's was just off Glendale west of the I-17 behind Checker Auto.
They ran the 'Lil Hoss (seen here). Its an Anglia I believe.
The buildings are both still there.
