Default frosted glasses with a cactus

There's an antique shop in Payson (Grannies??) that has a complete set with the pitcher and serving tray for $250.00

Here is my set, note each glass has a different plant. The frosted glasses are very fragile, one little ding and it cracks. First thing you do if you find the tray is to remove the dowels holding the handles and re-glue real good or they will pull off when you lift it because the old glue is not holding.

This is the same set I had to leave behind 3 years ago. At that time the set was selling for $150 on Ebay.

Default A&W Restaurant Will Close in 2012

A&W Restaurants is owned by fast food holding company giant Yum! Brands (NYSE: YUM - News) which has had the firm for sale since January. There have been no buyers. The chain was founded in 1919.

A&W Root Beer was a family favorite when I was growing up especially the "floats." We ate at the drive-ins as a special treat. It's sad to see them go but their competition is too overwhelming these days.

Default Sears to Close in 2012

The parent of Sears and Kmart — Sears Holdings — is in a lot of trouble...likely to consolidate the two brand into one — keeping the better performing Kmart and shuttering Sears.

It will be wierd not have Sears around as over the years I have purchased most of my large and small household appliances from them, not to mention electronics, clothing, etc. Times sure are a'changin'.

Default Kellogg's Corn Pops to end in 2012

The cereal business is not what is used to be, at least for products that are not considered "healthy." Among those is Kellogg's Corn Pops ready-to-eat cereal.
brands-disappear-2012-247: Personal Finance News from Yahoo! Finance

I used to eat Kellogg's Corn Pops as a snack right out of the box rather than as a cereal. Haven't done that for several years though so I probably won't really miss them.

Sky Harbor Airport back in the 1940s (???) with a TWA Douglas DC-3 on the tarmac. I was a little kid in the early 1960s when Sky Harbor entered the jet age and the Boeing 707 started flying in and out of the airport. I can't remember if they had to expand the runways to accomodate the larger Boeing 747 when it entered commercial service in 1970.

Terminal 1 was torn down a few years ago and it's now a parking lot.

Is it currently open? I had as much luck finding this restaurant as I did finding info on Skiff School...nil. There are many restaurants and food shops in the area but I could find no tamale shops and nothing named Maggie's. Hopefully others will have better luck.

During the 40's and 50's we bought everything except Levi's (Penney's) and shoes (Thom McAn) from Sears. What a disaster for them.
