Default Central Ave Dairy

My Grandmother worked at the Central Ave Dairy before it became Carnation and then retired from Carnation. Does anyone remember this dairy?

Yeah, but it wasn't in use in the 80's when I was a kid and used to ride my bike by it. It had a big Carnation sign still.

Yep, Sheldon was the drummer at West Phoenix High 1955 circa, and I do so well remember that burning tire disaster.

Does anyone have any info about Jimmy Jack's Drive Thru on W Van Buren & 30th Ave? I dive by there after work and have stopped by a few times. Good cheap burgers. This place looks older than dirt. My guess it's been there since at least the early 60s. Never heard about the place until I drove by it one day. I had always wanted to eat at an old school burger stand. There's a few others in town that I want to visit as well.

Pass by there quite often, but am too scared to stop.

A pretty decent quality nighttime photo of the neon cowboy from the Round-Up Drive-In on Thomas and Scottsdale Road. "Hurricane" was released in April, 1979.

There is a possibility that this photo is from an identically-named Round-Up Drive-In that was in Texas - The same company made both neon signs. It's hard to tell from the background if this is Scottsdale or not, but I think those are palm trees in the background which I associate more with Arizona than Texas. The base of the actual marquee is the same as the older photo of the Arizona sign that Roosevelt has posted in the past.

I remember reading (possibly in the New Times) that after they tore the Scottsdale Drive-In down, a group stole the head from the demolition site and sent some letters to the editor proclaiming themselves the Neon Cowboy Liberation Front...does anyone else remember this?

WOW! Thanks for that photo! I don't remember the Neon Cowboy Liberation Front but I remember that wonderful neon cowboy and the Round-UpDrive-In.

The Rodeo Drive-In Theatre (12th St & Buckeye Rd (Buckeye was Henshaw Rd in the old days)) had a nice neon too as part of the marquee. I am always hoping someone might have a picture of it. Sometimes I would be changing the letters for new shows and someone driving by would toss a rock or beer bottle my way. Lucky for me they had really bad aim!

I looked at my photo and it is identical, including the base. There is the same vacant lot behind and the building in the background with the wall has the same roof line.
