Here is the latest article on Phoenixmart - McCarthy Contstruction has been selected as the GC and they are shooting for an 11/2014 opening.

The CEO Betts has been making the rounds lately giving interviews and speeches as Chamber of Commerce etc.. He is doing the same today in Casa Grande and it sold out in about 2 mins....

Sand,

Yes...the video should answer almost any questions people have - about halfway through they show some of the very latest drawings of the buildings to be built (subject to only slight changes at this point). Pretty cool...

Also, they have confirmed a media blitz soft groundbreaking in October and then the infrastructure work will begin....vertical building (the stuff people will be able to see) will begin in spring with a November 2014 opening.

OK - so the official groundbreaking for this project is next week according to the Phoenixmart Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/PhoenixMart?hc_location=stream

November 7th - of course this will be the dog and pony show with the Governor probably there etc.....my guess is the heavy equipment wont really get going until after the holidays......but maybe sooner? We ll see....

This will change Casa Grande for a long time to come.....

Just thought I'd post this cool video of Phoenixmart in it's current state of arrested development. Current as of May 2019, anyway. Found on Youtube, of course.

Seems like a massive amount of concrete and steel just to store tumbleweeds.

I'm not saying "I told you so", but between Lucid Motors, PhoenixMart and Dreamport Villages, the "Big 3" projects in Casa Grande all waiting for more investment dollars, it looks like most people were right about these projects and whether or not they would really happen.

Famous last words:

August 2018. "[CG Mayor] McFarland said he’s cautiously optimistic about the future of PhoenixMart and is hopeful the project comes to fruition. 'It would be really a disaster if it just sat out there as a big concrete monument,' the mayor said."

You are sort of right.

Phoenixmart is in trouble - no question. No activity and no updates in quite a while. On the other hand, they have not been foreclosed on yet, and the principals involved still say they are working on it. But each day nothing happens is a bad sign.

Dreamport Villages - This one is also a little quiet - BUT, it has not been as long as PM, and this money gathering process does take time. Again, the contact is a little more frequent here that they may still have some hope.

Attesa Motorsports - This one is definitely still alive. I speak with the main developer frequently and they are just going through the process of getting everything done. I would expect a groundbreaking in the next few months.

Lucid Motors - This is the one you must not be following. They received a 1 billion investment last year, grading at the site has been started, and factory plans will be approved by planning commission tomorrow night with an official groundbreaking and construction starting before years end. In my day job I am already working with the General Contractor for the project - so this one is actually moving ahead imminently.
