Cooley Station in Gilbert?
Does anyone live in or around here? We are relocating and have found a house that we think we will make an offer on, but we know nothing of the area. How are the schools, and are there good hospitals around? Any info on the area would be appreciated! Thanks!

It's ok, they don't have much of a lot those homes but it's an ok area. I believe that is the Higley School District someone correct me if I'm wrong, which is also ok not as good as Gilbert but could be worse. They have a really good emergency hospital located on Power and Ray. I love that place.

If you like trains they sit right next to the train tracks. I have friends who bought there and are looking to move because of the noise. Go pack outside for an hour and listen for the train. I would think it gets old after awhile.

I've driven around there and wasn't crazy about it. There's nothing spectacular about the neighborhood, IMO - just a typical subdivision. But then, that's just my opinion. I usually try to look for unique things about a subdivision before I buy b/c that often helps for resale.
I do think it's Higley school district, which doesn't get great reviews. Also the location - close to the train tracks, very close to lots of LDS churches (though they're pretty much everywhere in that area) - were negatives for me, and the houses seemed really close together to me.
Again - just my opinion.
For school ratings, check greatschools.net and schoolmatters.com and AZ LEARNS Achievement Profiles
There's Mercy Gilbert hospital on Val Vista and the 202, Gilbert Hospital (primarily an ER - they just added a few inpatient rooms in order to qualify for government $$$) on Power Rd, and a new one (I think it's a Banner hospital) on Guadalupe and the 60. So yes, there are lots of hospitals fairly close to Cooley Station.

The new hospital is the Banner Gateway at Higley and 60. Inside it's a very modern and beautiful place.

Yes, trains run 4-6 times a day right by Cooley Station and when they cross Williams Field Road they blow their horn everytime. The worst part about CS is their neighborhood layout. Most of CS have their homes set up were six homes share one driveway. And if you drive a full size truck you will never get it into those garages trying to swing it around...no way. Each driveway has three homes on each side and each share the same driveway. What good is that? About 50% of CS is like that. The same builder builds this type of layout around the valley and it has to be the stupidist thing I've ever seen.
One good point is a future rail system is suppose to go right where Rittenhouse Road used to be. This will connect into the valley metro within the next ten years. It's suppose to run from Queen Creek into Gilbert, north to Mesa.

...also, if you're going to end up working in Phx....you don't want to live way out in CS. Expect well over an hour drive each way everyday...
