I love the "carpets" of Mexican poppies! Doesn't happen every year, but when it does it's soooo beautiful!

I have my own pics and they're so pretty, but not handy. 2001 (if I'm not mistaken) was an awesome year for poppies!

Those are so nice. I had no idea there were many flowers in the desert. I thought it was full of cactii.

Default Critters and thunderheads

Let's not forget the critters. Here is a cactus wren at its nest up at Starr Pass

Here's a little bunny wabbit, also at Starr Pass, in the early morning.

Here's one of the "wild" burros in Oatman

And here's some awesome thunderheads building up over Rio Rico, south of Tucson.

Oh, bunnies made their way here, too! I love bunnies. We have a lot of these guys in the backyard of my office:

I've always called them chipmunks, but they're ground squirrels, I guess... Not sure what exactly the difference is. They're cuties with never-ending appetite! Of course, I didn't think they were so cute when they chewed up some wires under my hood once, but oh well...

Their bigger cousins, the prairie dogs, are always a huge hit in the Desert Museum.

He-he, now that we're in a bragging instead of whining mode , let's show off our sunsets, too!

And some snow to boot!

Last winter we had some snow sticking overnight down in Tucson. It was more like ice than snow but nevertheless quite unique occurrence. I did see one snowman, though. We have this souvenir in the tourist shops called "AZ snowman" - it's a globe full of water with a hat, a nose, etc. floating in it.

Before this snowfall, since I live here it snowed only once for about 30 minutes on Easter of all times. At first I thought the postcards of cacti covered with snow were fake.
