We are looking for a nice place to stay, not to far from the airport, we fly home on Jan 1st at 11:30am.

Does not have to be a resort, open to any suggestions !

Looking for a place with nice views and possibly something going on at the hotel where we don't have to leave, if possible.

If you stayed somewhere last year and highly recommend it, I would love to hear about it.

You might want to check out the Hotel Palomar downtown. Close to the airport and I'm sure you will find something going in down there.

Two places in Scottsdale that we like:

Gainey Ranch & The Princess.

Not far from the airport and you'll probably have time for brunch on New Year's Day.

We're big fans of the Hyatt downtown.

I really like The Princess Resort too. Sounds like the OP wouldn't though

The Princess is a very nice property and both main restaurants on-site are great. I'm not sure what they do for NYE, but the Montelucia is my favorite that I've been too. It's pretty close to the airport too. The Sanctuary is also supposed to be great and is next on my list.

The Legacy Golf Resort is nice. It is just south of the airport on 32nd. We stayed there one time via an Interval International timeshare exchange. We golfed a round there as well and quite enjoyed it.
