Yes indeed, the orange jubilees(ours anyways) attract a decent amount of bees and certainly understand your concern if you're allergic to bee stings, especially around a pool environment....that wouldn't be fun!

While we kept one orange jubilee plant as a screen/they are a beautiful plant when they get tall & full with all the orange blooms, what swayed me to go with the hopseed is it's an evergreen/won't die back in a frost which is certainly a nice feature if the goal is a year round privacy hedge with minimum maintenance. I just didn't want to deal with heat lamps, frost cloth, etc. anymore like I did in the past with other trees/shrubs.

The light placement will look better deeper once night hits, it will make the entire pool look more like its glowing. This pool looks fantastic. I haven't seen a design quite like this before.

Turned out really nice ..... you may be one of the few people around these parts actually wanting for summer to start kicking in

At this point, I'm just wondering when the CD BBQ is going down?

It's crazy how reflective the pool is when the water is standing still...I don't know if I've seen a pool quite this reflective before, you can't tell the depth at all when looking at it...any particular reason why it's like that?

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Sounds like you purchased the "extra-reflective" option, yes?

Just the low angle of the sun this time of the year I would guess/your pool is positioned just right to capture that reflection. If you get some greenery in that area, it will diffuse that reflection quite a bit.

Is it just the angle of the pic or is the coping above your patio? If so, why would that be? Will you have a step up to the pool?

It's just the angle of the photo, they are at the same level (checked myself with an actual level )

Couple of night time pictures...

The light was supposed to bounce off the back wall and light up the baja step as well but didn't quite work out that way...anyone know if there's any adjustability to that to maybe tilt it up a bit?

Like you said, they mounted it too low to begin with, but I don't think that it would have given you the desired result either. Tilting it is probably not going to do much good or make you happy.

I'm really surprised that in the design phase they did not think of the baja step lighting. I'm sure it is not as dark as the pictures shows in real life, but you really seem to be losing some the aesthetics when just viewing at night of your gorgeous pool.

You should still be able to add additional lighting rather easily at this stage since the decking is not complete with a small drain down of the water and retrofitting a couple of lights into the step area facing the same way as the original. Fiber optic might be the easiest way to go or a couple of LED's.

Get a hold of your pool builder right away. Good luck, it is a beautiful addition.
