No. And an anonymous internet forum is no place for medical advice. We don't know you, or your medical history, and most of us aren't MDs. Check with your doctor.

Where the heck did the OP ask for medical advice? They asked for out opinion and experience.

I acquired a dry cough after we moved here that the doctors have no explanation for. I've read elsewhere that it seems to be a somewhat common complaint around here. The shortness of breath isn't characteristic as we're close to sea level so that should't be an issue specific to Phoenix.

Now I'm older and out of shape so I get short of breath rather easily.

He did not. But his question is inappropriate or at the least ill-advised for an anonymous internet forum. If he's concerned, a trip to a medical professional is the way to go.

BTW, I believe you stated your dry cough was due to your blood pressure medication. http://www.city-data.com/forum/31629312-post36.html

No, that was a different cough that was constant. I still cough less frequently for no explained reason. Had an ENT scope me and can't explain it. Reading the internet this seems to be a somewhat common complaint here.

Dear Place,

You should go to the doctor to get proper diagnosis. Shortness of breath could mean many things, including asthma or heart trouble.

BTW, you mention winter weather. It's not wintertime here.

To be fair, the weather has changed significantly. It is much dryer now.

It's probably stress related, given you've just moved and undergone some stress and are in a new environment. When I had anxiety a few years back that was my first real physical symptom.
Best to check with a clinic though to make sure but I bet it's stress related. You can search it up in association with stress and they have some helpful advice. Good luck.

There are many causes, best to be evaluated by a doctor. Here's some good information about the subject to bone up on: What Are the Most Common Causes of a Dry Chronic Cough?

Go to a doctor

There is nothing "natural" in our environment that would lead to a shortness of breath ... but there are things out here that you could catch where that would be a symptom or it could be a symptom of something else altogether

If you move to Phoenix you may have a bloody nose more often or other adjustments to a dry, hot, sunny climate ..... shortness of breath isn't common though

Find a doctor
