Hi, I'm looking for opinions of & suggestions for luxury hotels in Scottsdale, particularly downtown Scottsdale.

So far we like the Doubletree Paradise Valley & the Scottsdale Marriott Suites, so any opinions on those would be great if you have 'em. (I've already been to tripadvisor.com, FYI)

Also, of course, any car-show-type activities/events you wanna throw out there would be greatly appreciated. I've skimmed the forum & found a coupla things to research, but I certainly won't turn down any help!

thanks in advance

My thoughts are to get whatever room you can that weekend as there are always a million things going on, especially in Scottsdale!

What's your scene?

Rock & Roll/Hollywood Hip? Check out the Valley Ho & Mondrain.

Swank & and a bit more Stylish? Sanctuary on Camelback is great. The Boulders is fantastic.

Intimate and romantic? The Royal Palms is beautiful.

Otherwise, there's a big mix of huge luxury resort/spas or smaller properties where there's nothing really special on site, which for many is just as well. I travel a lot for work and actually prefer a simpler hotel. To me it's a place to sleep and a staging area to go out and enjoy the surrounding area.

Isn't that the same weekend as the Superbowl? I remember hearing several months ago how even rooms at the Holiday Inn Express were going for over $300-- and that was several months ago. The entire town might very well be sold out that weekend-- or at least the available rooms will go for an arm and a leg.

I'm a Barrett-Jackson nut, NewYorkNative, and haven't missed a show in years.

If I decide to hit the show for more than one day, I've always been very happy with Homestead Suites but all I am expecting is a decent place to sleep plus the little kitchen sure comes in handy too.

Unfortunately, due to the Super Bowl . . . this year may be a little different.

Good Luck

Hmm...those seem a bit *too* luxury for us. I should clarify by saying, we just want something basically a step or 2 above a 'business trip' place. I guess that would be a 3-4 star type. But those places look really nice!

Ok, thanks, that would be great.

I found some more places I'll throw in the mix, if anyone knows anything about them: The Inn at Eagle Mountain & The Arizona Grand Resort. The latter got some bad reviews, what do you guys think? I know they're not in downtown Scottsdale, but it looks like it's a short drive there from anywhere(?)

Seems like the Superbowl is a coupla weeks after BJ, btw, but yes, I will be booking this week

thanks again

If you are looking for luxury, why stay anywhere other than the Fairmount Princess? You will be very close to the show, and in top end settings. Downtown is not near the show. The other place might be the Westin Kierland. That is nice as well, and isn't far. It is right in the middle of a lot of nightlife there too.
Just thought I would add some thoughts.

I read the posting above this after I posted the above. I would still stay at the Westin, being a 4 star place. Fairmount is a 5 star place, and really pricey. Perhaps consider also the Orangetree Golf Resort. Do a search for 4 star places in the area. Good luck.

If you want to be in Old Town Scottsale near good restaurants and such, there is a new Hotel Indigo there. I've stayed in an Indigo in Chicago and really liked it. It's stylish but moderately priced.
