I have been living near Detroit for a while now- and I'm just sick of it. =[

I've been looking towards Phoenix, what I want to know is: Is the crime worse (I dont think so) and would you say the housing in the city proper is a little more upkept?

« Merci d'avance ! »
[ Thanks in advance! ]

Oh yeah it is just horrible. My husband has been out of work for a little over a year. I went from accounting to being a server at a restaurant. It is awful! I am looking to Phoenix or Las Vegas.

Lately, it's just difficult to be comfortable without worrying about job security!

Phoenix is MUCH, MUCH better than Detroit!! In housing and the economy. Why do you think HUNDREDS of people move here every day?

I got lost in Detroit a few years ago and thought I was in hell. I don't know where I was but all I saw were abandoned buildings and homeless. I never saw anything like it. It's not like that here at all.

We still have jobs, not as many as usual, but we are still doing much better than many other cities. Check out the job sites to see it yourself.

Expatriot from metro Motown here, currently living in Phoenix.

I think there's just as much crime here in the Valley of the Sun, just different methods. While ya get carjacked in Detroit, here they just take your car when you're not lookin'.

True, AND the fact that despite Detroit having 600,000 people less than Phoenix, has nearly 2.5 times the number of actual murders. Phoenix has VERY low violent crime compared to other cities BUT a higher larceny and auto theft rate; both of which have fallen significantly.

I have noticed lately that there hasn't been any grafitti AT ALL in our little neighborhood.

No vehicles stolen in the last two years, and not a lot of "riff-raff" walkin' around either.
