Some increase in crimes against persons in the first part of 2013 compared to same period in 2012, but an article I saw indicated that some of that may have been how certain offenses were coded, so actual change may have been less. I haven't read anything indicating that there is a trend up or down. Nothing out there for the last six months of 2013 that I could see with a quick search.

Number of officers is down in city of Phoenix due to budget cuts a few years ago.

Crime rate here or in the suburbs, standing alone, should not stop anyone from moving here, IMO. There's a certain amount of crime in any large metro area.

Even in the worst parts of town the crime really isn't that bad. Unless you plan on hanging out on 27th Ave&Bethany Home or 16th St&Broadway you really won't have any major issues with crime.
