.. but decent neighborhood wise would be slim pickens. You missed the window of nice homes for 100 grand by three years.
Some of those "fixer uppers" look like shacks. It is better to save and put down a larger down payment.

like I said, Looking to definitely put some sweat equity into it. I really would love a 60's or 70's style ranch house that I could update and gradually upgrade each room with cosmetic touches.

Check out Mesa. Those were the heyday years for the more western sides of Mesa - say west of the 101.

The days of getting a house cheap are over. The flippers came in and bought everything up and inflated the market again. House for that price range are going to be in the lower income areas.

So all houses that are listed from $100,000 to $150,000 are in the hood/lower income type areas Somehow I just quite don't believe that......

Interesting, you have trouble believing yet you've already raised the high end of your range from $130K TO $150K.

MLS is wide open here, dig around and you will see that the info people are giving you here is pretty accurate. You may find what you describe but it will take some digging.

Contact the realtor with the listing and see if it's still available. Many realtors let listings go stale just to search out prospective buyers. My house was still listed for sale 8 months after I bought it on 2 different websites.

If you want a REAL good deal such as a foreclosure or auction you better be able to write a check for the full amount.

Then post the zip code or cross streets of these decent homes? The will either be in a low income area or is some far fledged zip code. WCB we both work at the same place let me just throw this out there. One of my coworkers moved here from Pasadena and not knowing anything bought in Buckeye. They regret it so much. There is nothing out there it so far away from anything plus the commute to work is an hour. Schools not that great, and they want out of there bad, and want into the city. It may be a recent build but be prepared to drive and deal with wear and tears on your car.
