I don't know what data from 2007 on "gun-death rates" has to do with the recent attempted kidnappings.

Let's stick to the topic, please.

These attempted abduction cases do seem to come in bunches at times, even when it turns out that there's not a connection. Having been lucky enough to be involved in an attempted stranger kidnapping myself as a child, I always find these reports disturbing.

I hope they find the person or persons responsible. In the meantime, that talk with the kids sounds like a very good idea.

The case of the Litchfield Park boy was a hoax, he made it up.

This is a huge area with alot of people and I see little kids walking alone many times, either from school or to somewhere else.

Yes, parents do need to have a talk with their kids about danger from strangers.

And they also need to be taught perspective, that not every "stranger" is a danger.

Anyone seen that test on TV a few yars ago. Thet teached children to never ever let a stranger in the house. It was hammered down into their minds.

Than a stranger rings the bell, and he talked himself in the house within a minute.
Children are good, and believe everybody else is a good person.....
