The Suns made it to the Western Conference Finals in 2010.

It's taking the Cardinals awhile to find the quarterback they need, but fans are giving the new coach support. The Diamondbacks can get the same kind of reaction but they will have to DO something. You can't expect people to accept failure unless some effort is obvious.
The problem with the Diamondbacks this year is NOT that the ownership isn't trying to spend money to improve performance. The current payroll is the highest that the team has ever had, at $112,688,666. They rank 11th out of 30 franchises. The next 4 teams after them in the ranking (Cincinnati, St. Louis, Atlanta, Baltimore) have all made the playoffs once or twice in the last two years. The criticism is not that they aren't trying but rather that they are not doing a good job at their player acquisitions and retention, hence the calls for Kevin Towers' head on a platter.

If the goofy Cubs fans here in IL (of which I am - or was - one) would just stay home when the team is this lousy, maybe they would open their pocketbooks and buy a few professional players. There's no reason for them to pay more if they keep filling the stands.

It's almost like, (I'm just guessing) as if most people in PHX don't root for the home team. Call me crazy, just a hunch.

Yes, I would definitely agree that's a factor in Phoenix. And clearly management is aware of it.

Pittsburgh native friends of mine who live in San Diego proposed coming to visit the last time the Steelers were playing in Phoenix. I checked out getting the tickets and you couldn't buy single-game tickets for that game at the beginning of the season. To get the Steelers, you had to buy tickets for THREE games. I understand the Packers were another team that rule applied to. I was told I could get tickets much closer to game day but my friends needed to make their plans early so it never happened.

I already have tickets to see the Pirates in August, though. See, I'm guilty, too.

They call it protect the nest. You can't buy single game tickets for certain teams. Steelers, Cowboys, and Packers being the main three. Sometimes the 49ers are a protect the nest game as well. Makes sense to bundle premium games with games that will have trouble selling out.

He has traded away Justin Upton, Chris Johnson, Trevor Bauer, Tyler Skaggs, David Holmberg, Ian Kennedy, Adam Eaton and Matt Davidson for what has amounted to Martin Prado, Addison Reed and a box of bats. Oh, he got Mark Trumbo too, who was hitting .210 and kicking the ball around left field before going on the DL where he will be until the All Star break.

We've been wanting to go to our first Dbacks game. We have young children, don't want to spend a ton of money.....and don't want our children to ruin the game for more serious attenders.....so which section should we look at? Is there a grassy area for families?
