I've had a job offer I'm seriously considering and found this area as a potential home rental. Is anyone familiar with that area (north of East Chapperal & west of N. Scottsdale)? It looks like there's a fair amount of crime a bit south of there- thefts mostly reported. Plus side would be an easy commute on public transit. My other choice would be to head farther out to Avondale or Surprize where the commute is worse but plus side is larger lots in HOA areas, for when I am home. And sc****ons.

Any advice on the area much appreciated. I will have only a very limited time to find a rental home so am trying to do as much research as possible beforehand.

Thanks!

Camelback Park Estates (central Scottsdale) or Avondale or Surprise??......quite a diverse choice there!

CPE is in an incredibly convenient location...IF....IF....you will work in central Scottsdale!....decidedly non-flashy, older, smaller homes.....don't think crime is a big issue there, but, as anywhere, take the usual precautions....a resident of Colonia Miramonte, next to the Camelback Inn and very near the epicenter of the highest real estate prices in Arizona, was murdered last week, so no place is immune from crime

but we need to know where you'll be working!!!!!....Scottsdale, Avondale, and Surprise are three far-flung corners of the very big Phoenix metro area!

also, your one word was censored.....can you spell it out leaving spaces between the letters??!!

For quick up-to-date information, I would call the information line @the City of S-dale or S-dale police.

City Call Center: (480) 312-3111
Police - Non-Emergency & Administration: (480) 312-5000

Not sure where you are moving from or what your expectations are.

The city caters to the rich and tourists. It is bad for "business" to have crime. We have lived in south Scottsdale 6+ years (Oak St & 64th), moved from Phoenix (Camelback & 36th St). Which may mean something after you've been here a while. Both have crime - no worse or better than you would expect. The difference - Scottsdale city services are on top of whatever you need - police, code enforcement, sanitation, etc. They do a good job of getting things done.

LOL, that was self-censoring in respect to those totally sick of the dreaded scorpion topic that us east coasters like to freak out about. :-)

I would be working near Arcadia Estates, due west. So it would be close. I wonder if Camelback Park to the east allows dogs. Seems to.

Thanks!

Camelback Park Estates would be a dream location for me. You're biking distance to Old Town, central to just about everything, and to top it off you live in a really cool, unique mid-century modern neighborhood in Paradise Valley. Out of curiosity, how much are houses renting for there?

Scorpions like tanning is usually related to tourist threads.

Scottsdale is a VERY pet friendly town - lots of dog parks, lots of dog friendly outdoor bars and restaurants. Numerous pet hotels and spas with limo service.

You would be friggin' crazy to NOT live in Scottsdale. Seriously, co-workers and friends will hate on you.

Its closer to 45th and East Camelback, I think. Another office is in Avondale.

The little house in Paradise Valley is gone. Waited too long but what can you do. Next area to look at would be Avondale, between S 4th and S Central. I guess the airport won't be quiet. What about crime in that area?

I gotta ask, what's with that river?? Does it ever actually have water in it? :-)

Thanks, everyone! The more I know before my visit, the less time I waste.

Can you choose your office location? If so, I wouldn't choose to work in Avondale if I could work in Arcadia.
