My husband is looking at a job in the Cave Creek area, specifically on North Cave Creek Blvd. Originally I was interested in Anthem, but that seems a ways out. (Is it?) I started to look at the Tramonto MPC. What can you tell me about it or what has been your experience living there? We have 3 small kids (5, 2, 11 months) and we are looking for a family friendly community, neighborhood and great schools. Tramonto, from the appearance on the web, seems to appear to fit the bill. Are there other areas we should consider? Please don't say Scottsdale because it isn't in our budget! Also, I work from home so commute for me doesn't matter, but does for my husband. I am really looking for a community type feel for the family as that is what we have now in our MN suburb and a neighborhood with lots of kids for mine to play with.

Thank you!

You can also look right across the street to the South: Sonoran Foothills and Norterra.

I've owned in Tromonto for 5 years. I'm a snowbird but I can tell you there are plenty of young families in Tromonto, my street is full of kids all day, I know all my neighbors by name, schools are close by, two community pools and plenty of trails at your doorstep. Shopping is in the community or you can take a short drive south ,north or east to find everything you need. Just south of Tromonto is the same ..I74.

Thank you for the feedback asufan and youthinkso! I am also going to take a look at Sonoran Foothills and Norterra. Is Tromonto a gated community like others I have seen? It doesn't matter either way, just curious as we may not get a chance to get back there before we move. Youthinkso it sounds like a very friendly and family based area based on your description. This is exactly what we are looking for!

Mostly non-gated in Tromonto, there are a few higher priced homes at the north and east end that have gates. There are a few more gates on the south side of the I74. But, don't be fooled by gates they offer no security you can search this forum and find out why.

Great, thanks again for the feedback! Yeah, we definitely don't care about gates either way, just curious really.

Does anyone have any experience with the schools in the area?

What is your budget? Tatum Ranch and Tatum Highlands are an alternative option you can consider that is close to your husbands work and has that young family feel.

We are looking for something in the $1,500-$1,900 range for rent. Ideally we would like to be able to also purchase a house in this area if we decide to make the move permanent. I will check out Tatum Ranch and Tatum Highlands too-- thanks!

Realistically Anthem is only going to add 3-4 minutes to the commute as opposed to Tramonto.
Both are great options though. tons of shopping near by, community activities, pools, schools, families etc. plus you get a great head start on the drive up north should you try to escape the heat for the weekend.

I live in Sonoran Foothills and it's an awesome family friendly, community friendly area. We have a community center with a pool, baby pool, splash pad, tennis courts, soccer fields for the kids. Right now for summer, they have been having a dive in movie at the pool for the kids and we have picnics in the park. There is always some kind of family oriented event going on for just our community. We have neighborhood parties set up in each subdivision of Sonoran Foothills, like 1 a month until we get through each neighborhood. There will also be a new K-8 school built and open for 2015 fall enrollment. Right now, Sunset Ridge is our school in Tramonto. My kids are 5 and 7 and love the school so we are hoping they will love the new school as well. We lived in Anthem and before that Tramonto before we bought here. We liked Tramonto too and would have bought a house there, but it just happened that we really fell in love with the house in SF. Either way, you can't go wrong. All are nice areas.
