June 26th, 1990, I remember that day... I also remember a day-time high of 120, I believe it was around the end of August of 1995.

The hottest months do vary from year to year and from what I remember, typically most of July and parts of August are the hottest.

"The hottest day of 2013 was June 29, with a high temperature of 118°F. For reference, on that day the average high temperature is 106°F and the high temperature exceeds 111°F only one day in ten. The hottest month of 2013 was June with an average daily high temperature of 107°F.

April through October. Trust me October stays in the 100's the whole month. Thanksgiving is the first nice weather. April is hot. I moved in March back to the Midwest Fter 6.5 years and we were sweating then.

For most of us, this is not an issue because we are working inside air conditioned office settings during the day. You can still be active outdoors in the mornings and evenings. Plenty of people hike, run, golf etc in the mornings. In the evenings, people hang out by the pool, go for a run, play baseball, etc.

Yes, you tire of the heat by September. That's natural but when October hits, the nights cool down and it starts getting nice. And then you have perfect weather until May.
I've seen a couple of people tell me that it's hot through October, which is not true, even though we've seen days of 100-105 in early October, but like you said, overall, it starts cooling down and nights and mornings are very pleasant. I've also seen instances (in 1971 and in 1984) where daytime highs were in the upper 60s and mid 70s, and morning lows were in the mid 50s, in September, so sometimes we get a hint of cooler weather early.

The years I mentioned above were ones I remember because in September of 1971, I had P.E. when I was a freshman in high school and it was first period.. and I remember it was a little chilly for a few days around 8 AM.. and in 1984, we had an early winter storm right after labor day weekend and I was driving back from Texas.

Not the whole month of October. Although there are days of 100-degrees, mainly in early October, overall there aren't as many days of 100 degrees in October, and April. If I remember correctly, we did not see 100 degrees in April of this year and there were instances in the past few years when we didn't see 100-degree days until June.

Hot of course depends on your definition of "Hot". To me 90-100 degrees is warm. If 90-100 degrees for daytime highs is hot for you, then you probably made a wrong choice moving to Central Arizona.

Couldn't agree more. The best way I could describe Phoenix and it's heat, is like an oven. You have your preheat, it cools down, then heats up again, stays warm. Then you start cooking, and your baking. When November comes around, the cooking is done and someone leaves the oven door open.

I consider it 4 months of "hell." June-Sept. I love May because that's the first month that you can really start swimming on a daily basis. And personally, I think June has been fine this year as well. I guess it depends on what you like doing in the heat but nothing beats going in and out of the water and sitting on the patio when it's hot out. I do that quite a bit when I am not working and swimming when the sun is down during the hot months is good too. I moved here to be able to spend all year outside. And I do just that....even in the heat.

HAHAHA this is great, I love all the over-exaggerations that occur about weather.

A few triple Digit Facts for Phoenix:

- The greatest number of 110°F or higher days ever recorded in Phoenix: 33 in 2011
- The greatest number of consecutive days with temperatures of 110°F or higher: 18 in 1974
- The average number of 110°F or higher days in Phoenix from 1896-2010: 11

LOL this is a good one, I love the "trust me" part.

Please, explain to everyone how then it makes sense that these were the recorded temperatures for the month of October over the last 5 years.
