Will admit her attitude didn't defuse the situation, but it certainly publicized the ignorant aggression of white "officers" against people of color.

And besides, the attitude of the professor does not excuse the cop's behavior. And yes, I'm a person of color.

...quit playing the race card. She is a dingbat .

The force was definitely unnecessary, but her chip on her shoulder provoked the situation and besides how does a J-Walking condition lead to a physical altercation. The fact that many can look at this and "not" see the wrong is what is troubling.

Nah, it would've been the exact opposite.

Whites getting abused by police = ignored.

Any other racial group = all over MSNBC.

Yeah but the fact that she is an ASU prof, I think it would have been the same. I don't know what point the person I was originally responding to was trying to make though.

She's an idiot. If you don't do what cops tell you to do when they stop you they'll do those things or worse to you. They can, they're cops. I'm not saying that's right, it's just true. That's a fact of life, how naïve can you be?

It escalated because she resisted arrest. After asking her to comply multiple times, what should the officer have done? Should he have sat there all night trying to reason with her?

I love the way the headlines are phrased saying a professor was body slammed by police, as opposed to something like: Professor arrested after struggle with police. It's as if the OP's sources are trying to tell readers how to think about the incident, as opposed to just laying out all the facts and letting readers draw their own conclusions. I find that typical of the sources cited.

Here is the raw video, as opposed to the video selectively snipped by the OP's sources.

Good grief, when an officer asks for ID/one to do something so simple, comply and life becomes pretty easy. Resist.....well, one will more often than not become their own worst enemy.

I got speeding tickets in the past and never was a idiot about it. I actually admitted to an officer once I wasn't paying attention to my speed and it was my fault. Amazing the results you get back when you act like a half-way decent human being, not act like an entitled whiner.
