Put in your zip code and see what you get!

Washington: A world apart | The Washington Post

Score: 85
85383 Peoria, Ariz.
Median household income: $103,819
College graduates: 37%

Not very many college graduates where we live, but good income...lots of entrepreneurs I guess?
Anyone live in Tempe 85284? They are kicking butt! Score of 97!

Brighter colors = higher score

Cool, I'm 85383 also, not a college grad but above that median income. Looks like they got the data from a pretty old census though in 2000.

Here's another cool map I stumbled across recently that shows ethnic population by representing colored dots for every person listed in the 2010 census.

The Racial Dot Map: One Dot Per Person for the Entire U.S.

My zip code scored horribly with a 29. Needless to say I've been wanting to move for some time now. It would have been interesting if you could zoom into particular neighborhoods. Some zip codes like 85021 have everything from third world to million dollar homes.

My zip code is 75. And if you're looking for college graduates, Phoenix ranks pretty low in terms of that so seeing those low numbers isn't a shock. Pretty cool link.

I think a limitation is the lumping/averaging an entire zip code to a given level of education, income, etc. because there are some zip codes that can encompass a wide variety of income and education levels.

For that reason, I like using this site for the same type of data summary where one can get right down to the street level and get a more accurate view of data like income and education level in the Phoenix metro area that's easy to use/navigate.

Arizona Census Information

I realize neither is perfect, but I like being able to zone/drill down more that the azcentral site provides. Also gets more into the actual level of college graduate....bachelors, masters. etc. It also allows you to really zoom in right down to the street/neighborhood level to see the more subtle differences in income, education, etc.

That is the area of Tempe that borders Chandler. It's a very affluent area with a lot of engineers who work at Intel and professionals who work at ASU. It boasted a higher income than Paradise Valley.
