Hi,

Do any of you know if 85215 and 85296 are good areas in the east valley?
If not, what are the good areas in the east valley?

Thanks.

85296 is Gilbert and it's a good area. I don't know for sure on the other.

What do you consider a good area? Crime? Schools?

I know at least these are all affluent, safe areas:

85284 (South Tempe)
85248 (Chandler/Ocotillo/Fulton Ranch)
85249 (SE Chandler)

Depends on who you ask. The East Valley Tribune doesn't include Scottsdale in its reports. However, Valley Metro's East Valley Dial-A-Ride service includes most of Scottsdale in its service area (except extreme northeastern Scottsdale, which doesn't have Dial-A-Ride service at all). Plus, Scottsdale is in Area Code 480 (then again, so is Ahwatukee and parts of northeastern Phoenix bordering Scottsdale).

What is certain is that Scottsdale was considered East Valley in the past. That is why it was included in the 480 area code. The west valley was given 623, central 602 and east valley 480. One can argue whether it is currently part of the East Valley since the EV has expanded. When I moved here in the early 90's, it was most definitely East Valley. For a long time, Scottsdale didn't expand beyond Shea so it was truly part of the East Valley when "South Scottsdale" was Scottsdale. When North Scottsdale developed in the last 14 years, Scottsdale seemed too far north to be included in the East Valley definition.

And if you are going to not include Scottsdale as part of the East Valley then by that logic, you should alos not include Tempe as part of the EV since it is pretty centralized now.

So you don't care how boring it is as long as there is low crime?
