I've heard mixed opinions about the job markets in San Diego vs. Phoenix. In my opinion, the job market in Phoenix is better because there is more of a variety of white & blue collar positions. One thing lacking in Phoenix is the presence of Fortune 500 & Fortune 1,000 firms headquartered here ... but then again, San Diego is lacking in this area as well, largely due to L.A. being a relatively short distance. San Diego tends to be a good place for people looking for military type of jobs ... but if you're not in the military, it's more limited. The wages in San Diego might be better overall than Phoenix, but that is largely to offset the very high cost of living over there. Phoenix's cost of living is much less expensive than San Diego's (except for summer electric bills, water, and some car maintenance expenses).

As I've stated here many times, my ideal city would be San Diego because of the climate, close proximity to the ocean, and the scenery. The reason I stay in Phoenix is the lower cost of living, and my family is here, as well as my house & job. It would be hard for me to uproot and move at this point ... although, I definitely enjoy vacationing in San Diego every summer because it's so much nicer than Phoenix's blast furnace heat!

Thank you all for the brutal truth! I was just rambling whenI mentioned girls, thinking about all the benefits of AZ. [/SIZE]

I like the advicefrom strangers, because they give you the pure honest brutal uncensored truth. My family/friends don’t want me to move from Boston, my friends in AZ aretelling me its great place to live, my friends in Cali hate on it. Sometimesyou need an impartial opinion!

PHX is currently my first choice and I’ve been down there 3times already, even spent a week by myself in Tempe and Scottsdale. The nightlife was good, scenery, weather; Ieven enjoyed watching basketball games at 5pm opposed to those late night 8pmEast Coast tip-offs.

I think honestly it’s going to come down to which city can offer me a job first. Whether it’s PHX, SD, LA, or Vegas. With these hefty student loans, I wont be happy any where without employment!
