Hello!
I'm relocating to the Glendale area and looking for a nice safe place to live. I want to rent a single family home and have found several within my price range in the 85305 area code. Since I'm a single female, how is this zip code for safety?

Please respond sooner rather than later...my time for choosing a place is getting shorter.

Thank you.

The boundaries of that zip code are Northern on the north side, Camelback on the south side, 83rd Ave on the east side and roughly 99th Ave on the west side. I don't know too much about that area but the Westgate district seems fairly OK although you can expect a lot of people going in and out of that area for shopping and events at the stadiums. This crime map shows very few incidents in that area.

Here's some other stats on that zip code:

Most of Glendale is fine and fairly safe. In that zip code try to stay north of Glendale Ave if you can. Anything south of Glendale Ave starts getting dicey crime wise. You're in a good location though with a lot of future growth. You have the Westgate Entertainment District, Tanger Outlets, and a new casino will be coming soon.

It's a developing area due to the presence of Westgate, but it really hasn't developed as much as it was supposed to ... so there really isn't too much to compare it to as far as safety due to it being such a new area. One large factor to consider is the commute time to work. Will you be working nearby, or further away (such as downtown Phoenix, or the east Valley)? It's always best to avoid a long commute if at all possible.

I wish I would have known this about the area. We just moved here a week and a half ago, we live in 85306 between thunderbird and greenway off of 51st. The third night we were here someone got in our backyard even with a locked gate, somehow got my car unlocked and were trying to steal my gps. My husband went outside as it was happening. The area seems okay, but that was really upsetting for me since we really have very little in valuables anyway...
