Hi,

My family is looking into possibility relocating to Phoenix in the next few months. My husband received a job offer in the North Central part of Phoenix, so I'm looking at neighborhoods around that area that 1) Have good schools 2) Have low crime 3) Family oriented 4) Is less than a half hour commute for my husband. After some research, it looks like the NW Valley may be what I'm looking for. Are there any other suggestions or advice? I've also noticed that this part of Phoenix and the schools are predominately white. We are Hispanic, is racism ever an issue?

When you say NW Valley, where specifically are you talking about? Like Surprise area, or north Peoria?

Phoenix is made up of several communities.

Here is the zip codes for the northern corridors

Deer Valley-85023 crime scale 220
Desert View-85054 crime scale 79
North Gateway-85085 crime scale 59
Rio Vista-85087 crime scale 93

Hispanics are fine in phoenix, maybe except for Fountain Hills. Besides that, its pretty racially tolerant. Im a minority and I never experienced racism in the corridors listed. Surprise and Peoria is fine as well

Deer Valley alone is made up of more zip codes than listed above

Hispanics are approximately 41% of our population. The area doesn't care about race or ethnicity; socioeconomic status is more of a factor. Welcome!

I suspect the only people who utilize that definition of those "communities," actually urban villages, are the Phoenix city planners. Aside from the general Deer Valley area, I've never heard anyone say they lived in Desert View, etc.

I think the NW valley is great. Check out 85310, 85308, 85382, 85383, 85085, 85086....all of them very solid, safe, family friendly areas. Peoria school district is pretty good and Deer Valley isn't shabby either
