Yesterday afternoon while driving west on Van Buren through downtown, we pulled over for a large Phoenix PD-escorted caravan that included three charter buses. They proceeded through all red lights and turned north on Third Street, and that's where I lost sight of them. I thought it might have been the Seahawks on their way to crushing the Cards at UoP Stadium. Any other guesses?

Could have been the Seahawks, the Cardinals players (I think they ride the bus from South Tempe) or the ASU football team who also attended the game. I have no idea why any of the above would be on Van Buren. Could have also been some marching band competition, etc downtown, not sure if anything is going on

They (Seahawks) were probably staying downtown, (Hyatt or Sheraton or Renaissance) , but if the buses were on Third Street and not Third Avenue, the buses would have been on the way to pick them up. ASU or the Cardinals would not have been downtown.

Why didn't you stop them! Maybe the Cards would have won (if the Hawks were stuck in traffic).

Don't know, but if they turned north on Third, the destination was the Sheraton (Third turns into a one way street south at Fillmore.)

They use Buckeye a lot for escorts too, for whatever reason. Same deal--charter buses and rolling blocks at each traffic signal.
