It's frustrating mattress shopping in Phoenix with unpleasant salespeople, gimmicks and high prices in general from the chain stores. Are there small, independent mattress stores anywhere from Apache Junction to Surprise that sell closeouts, discontinued or "scratch and dent" mattresses, preferably the higher end lines like Stearns and Foster that won't sag after a year? I am shocked that you have to spend $800 to get a firm twin extra long mattress from the big name stores. How prices have increased and quality decreased, especially since you can no longer flip mattresses. Also, can twin XL beds be found in Phoenix?

I've checked furniture stores for twin XL beds with no success. I wonder if they even exist.

Sears online carries them. Locally, YMMV.

Are you happy with your Tempurpedic mattresses?

Ikea. No unpleasant sales people, no gimmicks, and reasonable prices.

I bought a guest bedroom mattress off of Groupon. No joke, it was the easiest mattress purchase I have ever done. It was a great price and it was delivered free. I can't stand shopping anywhere with high pressure sales people.

Also, try American furniture warehouse in Gilbert or Glendale. I know they have a lot of mattress options and they don't have the sales people or markup.

I had a very pleasant experience with R & S Mattress when I was bed shopping.

Very happy, got it with the adjustable base and now have a king bed that my wife and I can adjust as we each want. Most comfortable bed we've had and we've had many over our 30 years of marriage.

Was expensive but worth every penny and I'd do it again in a second.

I called R&S mattress and was told they don't sell bed furniture. Other than going Tempurpedic it seems like a twin xl bed is the most elusive item to find.
