Here is a good video explaining DST, and how the different NA Nations observe it.

I agree. I don't think that's realistic either. My wish list would be DST but on Pacific. Again, likely not going to happen.

FWIW, I don't remember MI ever being split. I'll have to look it up. EDIT: a small part of the UP is on Central. Interesting, eh?

Winter and daylight savings are two things I am glad to have left behind.

I wouldn't either. I like not having to reset all the clocks twice a year.

When I lived in Alaska I laughed so hard when I found out they went on DST. I was thinking, "WHY?? It's full daylight 24/7!". But then I realized they are so far behind the rest of the country time-wise that they have to go to DST for business reasons. I think when it's noon in Alaska it's about 5 PM in New York. I think...

People who miss the later sunsets, etc. just have to move further north. In Idaho we went on DST and I can remember, often, being woke up at 4:30 AM with the sun shining in my eyes through the window. And it staying light till nearly 10 PM. I think I'll stay in the southwest.

In the early 60s Oregon residents couldn't decide if they wanted DST or not. When all was said and done some cities were on it and some were not! Small towns next to one another could be an hour different. My ex's granddad, being a crotchety ol' coot, told anyone making appointments for him to make them for "his" time. I guess Oregon finally got it's stuff together and now the entire state does DST. I like it because I have two kids in Oregon and we are on the same time during DST.

According to the article, and I assume the bill, it says sunset will be one hour later.

My guess is that this is a power company sponsored idea where the sun will set an hour later but your discounted rate plans will still be 7PM to noon.

But that's just me and I'm a cynic.

Don't want it. When we had DST way back it was MST. Technically we are in the MST zone.

I've been in bed at 7:30pm before.

Some of us have to get up early for work.

So let me get this straight. Our times in the winter months would remain the same but in the summer our daylight would be extended an hour? This is exactly backwards from what I would personally want. Give me an extra hour of daylight after work in the winter months!
