Hello!
My b/f recently accepted a job at General Dynamics in Scottsdale and once I get our house sold in Iowa I will be joining him in AZ and begin my job search. We are in our mid/late 40's and looking for an age appropriate apartment complex/condo under $1500/month. Must be 2br with a garage, in unit laundry and small dog friendly. He has been there for a week and has been getting some suggestions from coworkers and has expressed GREAT concern about having a short commute. Any suggestions on areas to look f or housing and areas/complexes to avoid? I would love to be near "the action" such as shopping, nightlife and outdoor activities.
Thanks for all input!

With his job being in south Scottsdale and you wanting a short commute, that will put you right in the middle of "the action" really. Would you guys have any interest in renting a house if it fits that budget? I took a quick look on MLS and there's some options within 10 miles north of his job, which I would consider a short commute and it's a great area...plus you'd be about 5 miles from Old Town Scottsdale, Scottsdale Fashion Square, etc. The homes are a bit older though (built 1960s).

A house might be an option but having been a homeowner for the past 25 years I am ready to let someone else take care of everything! Plus having the amenities of a pool and gym are high on my list of wants. Now, if we could rent a house with a pool that comes with a pool service, hmmm. Also a little nervous of the cost of cooling on a house.

He went to check out Villagio but needed an appointment. And Riverview Park apartments were only open M -F. Anyone familiar with these places?
