Hi me and 10 of my friends are visiting phoenix for a meeting April 24- May 1st. We are all from the age of 22-30 and wondering what some fun things for us to do our. We want to go out one or two nights and see the nightlife and hit some bars. As well, we will have a couple free days to explore the city. We'd like to do some shopping as well and see some interesting things. We are staying at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, and don't want to venture too far from there. Thanks!

Unfortunately for you, most of the west Valley isnt much fun at all (in my opinion). The only thing close by (sorta) is Westgate in Glendale, which isnt anything to really write home about. For nightlife I suggest taking a cab or bus all the way to Mill Ave in Tempe or hit up some of the bars and clubs around Old Town Scottsdale.

Unless you're from the middle of nowhere, Westgate is hardly an attraction. CATS is right. You'll need to Uber it to Scottsdale, Tempe or downtown Phoenix to party it up at somewhere other than a mall.

Im glad you agree about Westgate. People rant n rave about it, and I think its lame. Its nothing you cant really find in any other big city in the nation. I would never recommend it to a visitor. Ever.

A few months back I had some old friends visit me from Chicago, and they wanted to go to Phoenix. We did the downtown area around Jefferson (near the Sun's stadium), and after 30 minutes of walking around, they wanted to leave. I was embarrassed. We ended up in Scottsdale for some fun. Phoenix downtown is pretty lame, too. Its bad when you have to head out to a suburb to have more fun.

Who the hell selected the Wigwam? That's in the middle of nowhere.

Litchfield Park isn't in the middle of nowhere, it's clear-the-far WEST of everything!

You will have a good time at Westgate, especially if you hit it on a night when there is an event at the arena or a weekend. It is hopping on weekends, but like anywhere can be slow after happy hour on weekdays. Westgate is better than either downtown or Tempe, IMO. Walkable, many choices, no panhandlers or homeless, grown-up oriented. Scottsdale is the best with many bars and restaurants, but you can't walk it - they are spread out - and you sort of have to know where you want to go too.

That's ridiculous, wrong and is not helpful to the OP who does not know any better. The Wigwam is in Litchfield Park, a suburb of the Phoenix metro and is surrounded by the same suburban developments including housing shopping, restaurants, and bars as anywhere else in the metro. It's about 20 minutes from downtown Phoenix making it closer to that destination than Gilbert, Scottsdale and most of Chandler and Mesa.
