I used it through November my first year here, but after that it has been as Colt says "longtime Arizonans ... will wait a bit longer". There are quite a few winter rentals in my community, and yes, they've been down at the pool for weeks!

Seriously, if most people waited till the water got above 80 they would never swim outdoors in their entire life. It's not a "swimming" in the winter thing. I bet our local lake only gets above 70 for a couple of weeks in July yet people swim in it all July and August.

Swimming in a pool when it's in the 90s like Phoenix in July and August is actually gross! it's like taking a bath with 20 people.

The condo complex here has a pool, and I got in today. I have no idea what the water temp was, but it was cold at first, still nice and cool once I adjusted, but not COLD. I had the pool to myself. It was nice!

The pool gets full sun all day, I imagine before too long the water will be too warm. Temps near 90 are a BATH. I like it to still feel cool, not warm/hot.

Hell no, will be a couple months before I get in. It has to be 80+ (85 is best) before I'll venture in.

I remember growing up in Idaho and we'd swim in the river when it was in the 50's and 60's. I'm a wimp now.

I've only been three years from up north.

My yearly goal now is to take a full dip before April every year to make sure I can still claim some of my Montana blood!

Thing I'm worried about is that my main panel was derated to 175A when the solar was installed so I don't know if I can add a 50A breaker on there...even if I have the physical space for it.

First I want to see how much my solar produced after 1 year anyway...so far it's on track to over produce which is great...and electric pool heat pump could most me $0 electricity wise.

We have used our pool several times. It still requires heating at this time of year for the water to reach a comfortable temperature.
