My question is, why are they still into effect if there is what seems to be for sure more then half the people in the state are against them( maybe some cities the peoples general outlooks arent and my finding are biased?). Isnt there steps to take to demand a repeal of a law or to make a law as long as X amount of people sign a petition? Wonder why noone has ever done this.... I don't have the time for it but there are plenty of people of people that have all the time in the world( which actually alot of the time synchronizes with the people that are the "just don't speed" crowd.... hello, cant you see through others perspective? We understand you have absolutly no hurry in your life because your retired/not working, but most people in the real world do )

There are lots of us here who think the cameras are a good thing. I also know a lot of people outside of this forum who don't care either way, or like them. They are pretty easy to get past without a ticket, I don't know why people complain about them so much. And, I certainly don't drive like a turtle. I'm pretty speedy and I don't get tickets.

The ones who favor them, or those who will accept them without any kind of thought, are the sheep who obviously don't realize that this is clearly a form of Big Brother out of control. The main issue is: this isn't even about safety! It's about the government collecting more revenue. The state is currently in a serious budget deficit, and they want the public to contribute to their coffers. DUH! Can't anybody see how obvious this is?! Napolitano even admitted it (in so many words) in her support for the radar cameras.
Hell, with the support these cameras are getting, why stop with the freeways? Why not put cameras in our cars to make sure we're not talking on our phones or dozing off behind the wheel? Why not put them in our homes too? Is that what you want??? If you allow the government to put robotized revenue generators on the roads, it won't be long before they want to put cameras in other aspects of your personal lives, such as your homes & vehicles.
I'm writing this on the Fourth of July ... a day that we should be standing up for our freedoms, not giving them away. If our founding fathers could only see how we've allowed Big Brother to be our nannies, they would be flopping over in their graves!

The truth!
It was in the news a while back, one of the cities in AZ raised its time that that the yellow light was on for.The result was extremely less violations and less accidents. Less violations meant less money, so the camera makers yelled at the city for breaching their contract and they arent getting enough money, so the city put the yellow back to normal and also raised the amount going to the company to I beleive $75 per ticket.
Many cities have done studies that found any difference with red light camera or without, safety wise, negligable or even worse. Many cities have also voted to ban them because theywere proven as such and also as unconstitutional.

Kyle, I agree with your sentiment against the cameras. I'm also in full agreement with your statements on how there has been NO VOTE BY THE PUBLIC on this matter. The mere fact that cameras even exist on certain highways came from people like our "wonderful Governor", certain members of the Legislature, and municipalities who see this as a cash cow. In fact, the city of Scottsdale installed the cameras on the Loop 101 illegally. The city has no jurisdiction to patrol the 101 because that is the job of DPS. Where is the outcry from citizens on this ... and more importantly, where is OUR vote???
And you're also correct that most of the people who support these cameras are the ones with little time on their hands. It's pretty evident in passing them on the freeways. They are the slowpokes who meander along in the center or left lanes, obviously clueless of the fact that they are impeding the flow of traffic (which is against Arizona law, BTW) and causing road rage among other drivers. Those drivers obviously need to stay off the freeways, and quit crying to the government to slow down everyone else who use the roads to GET SOMEWHERE!

I heard that AZ governement passed a law last week stating that Photo Radar tickets will not go on your record (driving?) and you can not recieve points for photo radar tickets? Has anyone else heard this and how will it effect its enforcement?
Apparently the reason for this is the Governor believes more tickets will be paid if there is no worry about it going on the driving record. Also that it will bring down the jursidictions expenses on court hearings and serving individuals?
Any comment?

My wife got a photo radar ticket and it certainly went on her record and raised her points. I heard the same rumor and told her it wouldn't raise her insurance. I was wrong. Likewise, I wouldn't believe this rumor either.

Yeah, my comment is that it's further proof that these radar cameras are all about money and have NOTHING to do with safety. If running a red light or speeding are real safety issues, then the tickets very much SHOULD go on one's record. Plenty of folks can afford the fines and not worry about it. But start racking up points or take an insurance hit for three years per violation and that tends to get people's attention. Not issuing points is the state's way of encouraging sheeple to just roll over and pay and not try to fight it. I can promise the state that I will fight even a $1 ticket if I get one.

I heard that the photo resistant covers for license plates are illegal... So I heard about a clear product that you spray on to your license plate and it bloks the camera. Does anyone know about this? Is it legal?
