Anything that blocks or prevents the reading of a license plate is illegal. That's been an AZ law for umpteen years.

Yea, but if it's a clear spray that only blocks photos but is clear to the naked eye, they really can't charge you with a crime.... If they did you could say it was road grease. The only way they could prove that you had a chemical or something on the actual plate would be if they "swabbed" the plate and tested the substance as they do for cocaine...

Looks like the Process Server came to my house last night but luckily I was next door. My CAL: ARRAIGNMENT is 07-25-2008. Am I safe after this date?

Thank you in advance for any useful information.

Default Got a ticket

I received my first ticket in over 10 years, and of course it it photo enforced. It is for Speed> reasonable/prudent
I have been reading blogs about fighting/avoinding this fine.
My question is that my notice date is 9/15/08 and my court date is 10/16/08. It says that if fail to appear in court my October 16th 2008 it will result in additional fees and penalities...is that true?
The blogs all say to avoid the hand delivered letter, however is that after the court date or before?
The first line reads '...you will be receiving a Summons and Complaint in the mail.' Is that the hand delivered letter or something else?
thanks for any help. I plan on fighting this to the best of my ability...so thanks

From what I was told in traffic school... you send back the form, but check off the box that says it was'nt you in the photo. The form should give you the option to turn someone else in for the ticket....but don't fill that part in - by law, the ticket is generally dismissed.

BTW: the DL picture you send in can't match the picture in the photo radar picture though..

This is the problem with photo radar everywhere. Everyone who drives speeds at some point. Yes, going 46 in a 45MPH zone is speeding. Yes, not slowing down to 35MPH when it drops from 45MPH BEFORE you hit the speed limit sign is speeding. I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I hear people say "don't speed and you won't get a ticket". Everyone speeds at some point every day when they drive. How is this possible? I know an 80 year old gentleman who was terrified of going over 55 on the freeways. Yet he got a photo radar ticket for speeding. Are all the photo radar supporters still going to support it after they get their first ticket? How about the second 165$ ticket? They haven't even rolled out the new photo radar vans and stationary cameras yet. Even more chance to get hit in the speed camera reverse lottery!

Oh well, have fun you supporters! I have the best radar detector money can buy for the vans and will soon be purchasing a GPS location for the stationary cameras with wires in the pavement. It's the only way one can protect themselves from a momentary indiscretion and a 165$ bill in the mail. You can go ahead and pad the state budget, I certainly won't be.

Bottom line for all of the "Self Appointed Experts" on this subject is simple . . .

PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOU MOUTH IS!

Advising anyone to ignore the citation and/or spray or obscure their license plate in any way is ridiculous and an abundance of BS. Are you planning on paying the additional fines? Are you planning on paying the additional insurance premiums? Are you planning to cover the loss from work? Are you planning on being a chauffeur if and when they lose the privilege to drive?

Sorry, but the best advice . . . OBEY THE LAWS. Don't Speed and Don't Run Red Lights
