So I live in CA, Just got one of these things in the mail. So I shoud just ignore it? Isnt it considered a speed trap if it is not posted? I understand it is advertised in AZ but I live in CA un aware of the photo radar. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone heard the rumor about the fake Saguaro Cactus on Carefree Hwy., west of Ben Avery, that's supposedly a camouflaged camera? I rode my bike kinda fast to Wickenburg recently and didn't notice any flashes.

That saguaro happens to be a cell phone tower, did you get any ringing in your ears?

I've seen that around already, but don't recall on which road.

They are normally posted, but sometimes very small signs (Scottsdale deliberately uses smallish ones).
In any event, if you ignore it and do not respond, they will have to send a process server to serve it to you within 120 days to legalize it, which I highly doubt they'll ever do for any out-of-State driver.

Many cities have these little signs that say "photo radar blah blah blah enforced" as you enter. That might meet their disclosure requirements.
Then again, you'll have to argue with a judge whose salary is paid by said tickets, which I believe is the real outrage. It's unsporting to get nailed by a robot in a van or a camera on a light by a city. But even more unsporting is we're supposed to have an independent judicial system.
The radar and DUI tickets have become such a major revenue source for the courts that I really question if one can get a fair shot. Just to clarify, I'm facing no such tickets and believe asshat drivers should get nailed. I'm simply questioning how we regular folks can get a fair shake when it's our time.

As someone dating a lawyer, I found out some truth. The tickets ARE valid and legal, as if a cop wrote them the day of the infraction. Now, some tickets have been thrown out and found to be in violation of certain criteria, but those problems have been adjusted to fall within legal boundaries and tickets issued at this time will stand until a court finds them unconstitutional or whatever, LOL!
So do NOT ignore the tickets, even if out of state. What will happen is an Arizona resident could face a supended license if the ticket is ignored...just like what does happen if they continue to ignore a "real" ticket. For out of staters, Arizona will issue a notification to the DMV or MVD of your home state in which they will request your license be suspended due to an unpaid ticket. You will have your license suspended because of the understanding in interstate compact laws that require other states to recognize laws of one another. It sucks, but thats the way it is.

Nice advertising for the person you are dating. Maybe he will get some more clients who are scared of the system.
Really, show me proof somewhere that they do not have to "serve you". It is not legal just to mail someone a ticket and expect that they received it. They don't send the tickets certified mail, they simply mail them regular postage. What if the ticket gets lost in the mail and the person never received it? Does mail never get lost?
I guess my license should be suspended because I have ignored 5 of these photo radar tickets over the past 5 years!
