This is what I moved from and hope to never see this again.
I would love to just jump into that picture for a few minutes to cool down. I think I would pay to feel some snow on my neck on a day like today.

I'll second that it pretty much doesn't matter when you're a kid. We played outside all summer, although admittedly we did practically live in the pool on certain days.

Cross country practice in high school was at 3:00 PM. Nowadays, I'm not sure how I managed.

For those who are unhappy in this area or any area for that matter, why are you still here? Jobs exist everywhere, there are many other areas to live that are even cheaper if that's the issue for some people, etc. so no excuses there in my book. I can also understand the nostalgia/living in a place one is used too/has memories for and for many that is where one was raised. Change is tough for many beyond what one is used too and is the reason I suppose the vast majority remain in the region of the country they grew up in. In any case, I think life is too short to live in a place where one is unhappy. Back to the hometown!

You know, it is possible to like a place and still talk about its shortcomings. Disliking the summer weather doesn't mean one forfeits one's right to live here.

I love it here, but miss many things about IL, too. Its natural for one to be homesick. I miss the food, the water, the forests, the people, and being able to take the train to Chicago whenever we felt like it. I dont foresee leaving AZ, as I really do enjoy it here.

I was specifically referring to some of the posts who seem to miss a great deal about the old place of residence from the weather, the green/ocean, sense of community, etc. They don't seem happy living here. Why remain where one is unhappy/just talk about it instead of taking action to move to a place that is more to one's liking ?

Yes, missing it is one thing, but when you talk about the shortcomings of the place you and others reside, it is almost like a "why do we live in this place that is lacking so much" thread.

I don't care where you come from, you will miss anywhere that has memories of the past. I miss LA all the time for many reasons;the weather and beach are not one of them. i guess that is why Phoenix is perfect for me

Although I moving back to LA for a tremendous job opportunity. Yay! and

In my case I am happy living here, I just prefer South Orange County and plan to return. I came here for ASU and ended up returning to start a business via my connections, and my wife's career took off as well so staying here is the best option to sock away some $$$ to return to CA in style Doubtful both of us could earn the same money in CA, at least in the near term so that would be a gamble.

Have you ever experience missing everything about the old place where you came from and moved back. not once but 3 times and end up moving away again ? A place does change over time caused by people.

It's happening to a lot of people including myself so my advice would be try to think of the real reason why you moved away from it in the first place .
