You can read a lot of threads on here to get a feel of a good area. There are many great areas to live in. Coming out and visiting would help with seeing what area fits you.

Are you wanting to rent a home or an apt? A nice home for rent you can find for $1000 on up. Just depends on the area and the size of home.

We have lots of multicultural people here. There are people from many countries and ethnicities here.

Default It depends

Phoenix has lots of family-friendly areas with folks in your age range. Your choice of areas should be driven by the length of your commute, price range of houses/rentals and the area amenities.

If you indicate the general area of your employment location, I would be better able to give you some specific recommendations. Phoenix is pretty spread out, you'll have a lot of choices!

we just moved to AZ, and live in Gilbert. We love it. Everything we need is within 5 miles of our house. Also the people in our neighborhood are very friendly, and there are nice places to go and have a drink/dinner very close by.

Gilbert would be my recommendation, however, it will also depend on where your job is located.

It depends on where you live. Scorpions are around and sometimes they can brought into an area by a new tree. The way to avoid them is to keep away their food chain. They eat crickets for one thing. We have our home sprayed on the outside and inside on a bi-monthly basis to keep rid of spiders, bugs, crickets, etc. That helps to keep the scorpions away.

When you buy a house, you can have it inspected for scorpions to see if any are around. It isn't fool proof, but the inspectors look at the most likely place to find them. They do the inspection after dark and use a black light. The scorpions show up very well under the black light. Somewhere in another thread there are some pictures.

Snakes aren't a problem in most areas, except in the areas where there is a lot of desert landscape near some open desert. They try to stay away from people.

I would say that this is not a major problem. I client of mine was terribly afraid of scorpions and she insisted on having a scorpion inspection. They found none, and she was happy.

I may get slammed for saying this, but I would never live in the west valley, or anywhere that the mojor cross street included an avenue. Avenues are on the west, streets are on the east. I don't think the multicultural thing would make a difference anywhere, this is a very diverse area, but given your age, I would check out Tempe, Scottsdale (not south scottsdale), Gilbert, Chandler. I am partial to the east valley, but I would also stay away from Mesa and Apache Junction. Mesa is either rich mormon or poverty stricken families and they also has a large number of convicts who live there...I guess it has something they like??? Apache Junction...drugs, drugs, drugs and some retired people living in their motorhomes.
