Just returned from a short trip to Lake Pleasant.I thought we might stop by a marina for a light lunch and a couple of drinks. Imagine my surprise when we were stopped at a gate house and were told it was $6 just to enter! It was almost 1 p.m. and I really wanted to check it out. I later understood the reasoning behind the cost but I doubt I will return.
Upon getting home, I see there is another marina, scorpion something.....anyone know if they charge an entrance fee or if there are any other places like this on the lake?

That would be Scorpion Bay and, yes, you have to pay the county park entrance fee to go there too. There is a Dillons restaurant on the water there. If you go to the county parks frequently for hiking, for example, you can get an annual pass and could save some money (and aggravation at having to pay that fee).

Like I said, I later learned the reason for the $6 fee ( the golf cart ride). Yes, I go to movies regularly and realize this is the cost of enjoying an experience.
Honestly, you pay twice that much in Chicago for the privilege! I had just never seen any reference to the fee on any website. Besides, without a boat there is no reason for me to go to that marina again.

We did the same thing, just drove out there to see what it was and turn around and come home. Was frustrating to pay the fee when we didn't even get out of the car and were in there less than 15 minutes.

Last year, we paid the $6 to get in. Drove around, went up to the Nature Center. Later we had dinner at Dillon's.

After dinner I was not looking forward to the steep climb up the steps out of the marina but someone had access to the elevator and let us on for the trip.
