What a load of garbage.
Hmmm... Same thing happened to me. Called them up and for an extra $10 a month they doubled my internet speed and gave me 30 extra channels. Plus gave me a credit for the month so I did not have to pay the extra $60 they were going to charge me now that my promotion was over. I was going to cut cable altogether but by bundling everything it was only about $30 a month extra to keep it vs having internet only.

Shoot. They wanted to take my 50mbps down to 15mbps and charge me $60 a month. So, last month I was paying $50 a month for 50mbps and today I'll be paying $60 for 15mbps.

I find it amusing when people sign up for something that involves an introductory price, one that clearly has a fixed time period, then get upset when it ends, as if the company is doing something dishonest.

While charging people $60 or more a month for mediocre internet service isn't dishonest, I feel the bill should go up after the promotion, but not by 100%.

is this a "free market" argument? Cause there's only two companies "competing" for the business in my neighborhood & they're both actively working to keep anyone else from getting into their pie, while consistently offering the worst customer service of any business in America for several years running.

Haha, couldn't have said it better myself. I'm actually excited for when Google fiber comes to the valley. God knows we need more competition here!

They offer promos if you call and tell them to shut the service off. I pay $45 for premier, 2nd one up I don't know their names, because I told them to shut it off I will go elsewhere. That promo lasts a year at a time which you just call to cancel again, complain about price when you call. Most everyone has these type of deals too. My Verizon bill is 10% off because I called to "cancel " and I know DirecTV has some deals too.

It's a math argument, actually. When you get 50% off for a fixed period, you should expect the price to double when the fixed period ends.

I expect the price to go up, but double? Come on man. No body knows that, unless you work in that kind of business.
