Read the previous thread on page 15, I answered your other response too. A couple days out of the year? Uh, they had to shut down your entire downtown for more than a couple of days. The Phoenix Suns were stuck in a hotel in December. They had to cancel hundreds of flights out of your airport because of the weather. Anything below 70 indoors in Phoenix is freezing. 73 degrees feels pretty darn cold to me. 60 degrees in Denver is cold because those are your highs during those days. Yeah, its 60 during the day and 45 at night.

ha ha you guys are a hoot and crack me up, thanks! For the record no ill will towards anyone.
I'm glad we entertain you. Laughing is good. It helps generate heat and speed up your metabolism. The next time your city is shut down in its next snow storm, make sure to laugh when you read it's 80 degrees in Phoenix. It will help keep you warm.

Ponderosa pine, huh? Should we all fall down and worship AZ because of it? To be honest, I find AZ's "forests" to be a joke, as the density and variety is quite laughable.

How about I laugh at you guys as its 78 perfect degrees here, and 110 there? Doesnt matter which way you look at it, sooner or later someone else gets to do the laughing. I swear, most of you think PHX is bloody San Diego or something.

DrewIzzo is on a distinguished road
Both areas are crowded. Denver I think is a ton more expensive right now. Phoenix is one of the hardest hit markets. Last time I flew into Phoenix it was just depressing, brown, barren, hot. I lived in Denver/Boulder area for a number of years and loved the area in between - Golden, Coal Creek canyon area. It's quiet and beautiful. Moderator cut: advertising

That's because a hot summer is way better than a harsh winter especially a Chicago winter. Why do you think everyone is migrating to warm areas in this country? You think people aren't aware of how bad our summers are? They know ours summers are horrible but they remember your winters and by comparison, they realize our summers feel like San Diego The worst part of our summers is you have to stay indoors a little more but its not like we have to wear layers of clothing just to go outside and even with those layers, it's still cold and you can't stay outside for very long. You don't risk slipping off the road and dying due to snow, ice and visibility issues due to bad weather. Our incidence of flu and cold is much lower than your incidence in the winter. We don't have tons of flights cancelled everyday due to weather. Our freeways are not temporarily shut down due to heat. I could go on! When you come home from work in the winter, the weather gets worse. When we come home from work in the summer, the weather gets better and we can go in our pool. Forget what extreme cold vs extreme heat feels like, your lifestyle is completely changed in the winter whereas our lifestyle isn't altered as much as yours.

First, you can dress for the cold. Second, AZ's summers are more extreme than Chicago's winters, just reverse the season. If Chicago had extremes in winter like AZ did in summer, we'd have cloudy skies for several straight months, snow every day, and sub-zero temps, which is absolutely not the case. Snowfalls? This isnt Buffalo! We get 5-10 snowfalls from November until March, hardly what I call bad. And besides, snow is beautiful and changes the scenery to make it very peaceful. And driving in the snow is more fun than you can imagine. Unlike a lot of people, me and my buddies actually head out when it snows heavily, to drift every corner imagineable.

And the reason people are migrating to warm areas is because its CHEAP, just like the experience theyll get when they arrive.

What does dressing for the cold mean? It's not like your dress erases the cold. You can wear a hat and gloves all you want but you are going to want to get inside after about 30 minutes in Chicago. Likewise, I can dress for a summer. It's called swim trunks, flip flops, a visor and a Corona. It's not that hard to dress for summer. Dude, you get more than 10 snowfalls. I was there in December, and it snowed nearly everyday I was there. I can't imagine it only snows for 10 days during November to March in Chicago. You don't have to be Buffalo to have a lot of snow. Snow is a pain in the #$# unless you are 10 years old and don't work for a living. Yeah, fishtailing on a snowy road into a tree is so much fun. About the only thing that's fun to do in your winters is drink and go bar hopping. Getting wasted feels really good on a cold day than a hot day. I'll give you that. Otherwise, everything else is just a pain in the a%$ and something you put up with to live in Chicago.

Well, last winter we broke records, no doubt (regarding snowfall amount). It was still about 100" (!!!!) less than many places' AVERAGE SNOWFALL. We average 36" of snow a year, which is not very much at all (a lot less than you probably thought, right???). But yes, we normally average about 10 snowfalls. And you can definitely dress for the cold, I dont know why you think otherwise? Last winter I took my son sledding for over 4 hours and was actually sweating. Ive gone hiking in the woods after a snowfall for several hours. The only time when its realllllly cold is at night on the super freezing days, which we dont get too many of. Im talking single digit highs and sub-zero lows. I believe last winter we only had 3-4 days like that, the rest of the time it was in the 30s/40s, which is about your nighttime lows in PHX on occasion. Heck, we almost hit 70 degrees on a few days as well. And if you slide and hit a tree its because you dont know how to drive. Ill admit most people dont know how to drive, but there are MANY who LOVE driving in the snow. Its evident by the groups of Lancers, STi's, etc, who go out with the sole purpose of having fun driving in the snow. Ill get you some videos this winter, show you what its all about. Long story short, I welcome the change the seasons bring and take advantage of every minute of it.

Where do you guys go sledding? Is it fun for adults too? I may ask my friends to take me sledding the next time I'm there in the winter. Yes, I fully admit that I don't know how to drive in snow, I'm a Cali guy. I have no clue. Well, we both like the changes in seasons. I like the summer. You would have fun with me if you spent summer with me in Phoenix. It's all about knowing what to do and where to go. I tell ya what, I love the fact that the snowbirds leave. There is practically no traffic now. It's amazing. And I don't have to wait 45 minutes to eat at a place like TGI Fridays now LOL. I always think it's funny how the snowbirds crowd places like Red Lobster and Olive Garden as if those are swanky hip places. The wait at those places are an hour in the winter. Too funny dude
