I prefer it to Flagstaff, it's tranquil and quiet. Flagstaff is loaded in people during the Summer.

Really, if you don't like the heat, it is miserable and there is no way to make it better.

I have a cabin/house in the mountains and that is nice, but there is always some reason I have to stay here or come back.
Yeah... that's the reason why I didn't try water parks. I think maybe an indoor pool might be more fun :P lol. But I might give it a try and see if I like it.

I agree... I think M-F I'll just work and then weekends when I'm really craving the outdoors, I might take a 3-day weekend and go to Flag, or San Diego and be OUTSIDE a ton and then go back to work in miserable, hot Phoenix.

That's why I'm out of here as soon as I get my masters, I have to say, I really like ASU and Arizona right now, but when the summer hits... OH MY GOD is it miserable!!!!

That sounds so fun! Thanks for the suggestion. I actually haven't been to Show Low before... I'd love to check it out.

That's true. Good suggestion! Thank you
Plus many ASU students go home for the summer.... lucky them... I have to work!! D: lol

I think that ASU Library will be another oasis of mine this summer (taking 2-3 summer classes, ew....) Library and school pool. I just am a HUGE outdoor person... that's why I find summer in Phoenix so depressing. It's miserable to be outside and while I love the outdoors, I just feel awful as soon as I step into the 115 degree heat!!

I mean the sun can be aggravating but I actually love Summers here. Water parks and day trips make it a lot of fun. And there are many less people. Water parks in Phoenix, day trips in state. Over nights in either California or Albuquerque. What's not to love? Besides the unending heat.

I also like that bone warming feeling you get when you step outside.

I like your optimism!

I'm actually trying to save up money now so I can go on road trips fairly often. If anyone wants to suggest good day-trips/ cheap hotels please do!

I'm thinking San Diego, Flagstaff, Show-low, Maybe Albuquerque (I haven't been there before, actually!) I also really want to visit Seattle and Portland (two cities I'm drawn to, but haven't seen before).

You are anxious about the summer???? In JANUARY? Really, I can't believe there is a summer heat thread NOW. There are many, many threads here already about how to deal with the heat. With a search, you will find them, and get any number of suggestions about how to deal with it. You can manage one more summer. With three classes you will be spending most of your time studying or in class, anyway.

Your timing may be off to get on a balanced payment electric bill, but that helps. Call your electric utility.

I love summers here. Cold beer and a pool and you're good! Also, enjoy all the restaurants that have long waits during snowbird season and enjoy the slower pace and less congestion. I say, bring it!

Yes! Summer is much less congested traffic-wise... and that helps when you're commuting from GILBERT
