Someone, anyone please chime in as to WHY OH WHY do I see snowbirds (yes actually snowbirds, not young people that may have moved here) clogging up the freeways during rush hour??

Snowbirds you're welcome to chime in as well. A snowbird (unless there is an emergency) has NO reason to be on the freeway during morning and evening rush hour. I know I sound like a pompous jerk, but SERIOUSLY I see a TON of snowbirds during the rush hours! What is the deal? You can do your doctor visits, grocery shopping and whatever else you do OUTSIDE of those times.

Please do us 9 to 5ers a favor and stay off the road during these times. It would be much appreciated.

Because they live there and have every right to use the roads at any time. If its such a problem maybe its time to rethink where you live?

Freeways are just as clogged up during the summer months when the snowbirds are gone so please explain that Tim. Using your logic, if people didn't work so far away from home then they to wouldn't need to be on the freeway either.

I wonder the same thing when I am out at Target or the grocery store on Saturday mornings and see them. If I was living someplace and didn't have a 9 to 5 job, I certainly would not be out doing my errands on the weekends; I'd get all of that stuff (and the stuff you mentioned above like doctors appts) in the middle of the day on a Wednesday when the working folks were not out and about.

In my short time here I definitely see it as a problem in the winter months...the traffic is lighter during rush hours and far less Alberta plates on the road.

NO, they DO indeed ADD to the already clogged freeways. Moderator cut: . It's simply ridiculous. Yes they are free to use the freeway anytime they want to. But I don't understand WHY they would want to do their oldies activities in the traffic.

If I was retired, the LAST thing I would do is venture out during RUSH HOUR to do my granny activities. How about venturing out during the MIDDLE of the day during the week??

Okay, you've had your little (or not so little) rant. Fact is, assuming every out of state car you see is driven by a true snowbird, anyone, regardless of what's on their license plate, has the right to be on any road they want at any time. Move closer to work or take mass transit if it bothers you so much.

So prouductive long term residents contributing to the economy should relocate because they find aggravation in the temporary elderly people population and their denture runs to Walgreens and the Doctors office slowing down people trying to get to work?
